Two views on the proposed Site C development

The proposed Site C hydro development is a controversial project. Presently, the viability of Site C is being reviewed in a 5 year process--now nearing the end of its third phase.

Simon Fraser University professor Marjorie Griffin Cohen--and founding Chair of BC Citizens for Public Power--recently published a brief paper on the subject in BC Studies. Her opinion on Site C, she claims, has changed as she has witnessed the environmental devastation caused by the provincial government's energy policy.

By contrast, a recent article by Matt Burrows in the Georgia Straight, exposes another side to the story: the very real consequences to the people of the Peace region, as well as the impacts on wildlife and aquatic species should the project proceed.
