What's New
The BC Citizens for Public Power recently launched its BC Guardians campaign. BC Guardians was established following the 2008 MORE POWER TO YOU conference to provide an online forum for concerned citizens to share information, access educational and organizing resources, and document the many issues associated with the proliferation of private power projects across the province.
http://www.bcguardians.ca/ includes news, views, and community organizing information posted by volunteer BC Guardian bloggers, photographers, and associates from across the province. Find out what's happening in your area—or specific places of interest to you—by clicking on the corresponding region on our map of BC or by selecting one of the eight areas listed on the regional updates tab.

The public/private power debate is gaining momentum! Recent open house events/public meetings in Powell River, Sechelt, Campbell River, Courtenay, Kelowna—to name just a few—are evidence of the growing opposition against electricity privatization and environmental impacts. Public meetings on the massive Bute Inlet private power project proposed by Plutonic Power took place in Vancouver and Victoria on February 10th and 11th.
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: BC Citizens for Public Power is seeking a handful of volunteers to help us carry out a short telephone survey to British Columbians. Scripts and training provided. Call our office for details: 604.681.5939.
