In the Media:
The public/private power debate continues to attract media attention, particularly with frequent announcements about residential rate increases, two-tiered rates, and as the public challenges the provincial government’s questionable model of “green” energy promoted by private power producers and the BC Energy Plan. So far this year, BC Citizens for Public Power—our organization, staff, or Board members—has been cited in more than 65 print or broadcast media outlets across the province. Recently BCCPP has been featured in the Vancouver Sun, BC Business, and the Victoria Times Colonist.

Information & Resources:
BCCPP recently revised and reprinted its full-colour poster detailing now more than 600 proposed private hydro projects on BC rivers and creeks. The reverse side of the poster identifies 20 private companies who are profiting the most by owning close to 70% of all licences and applications for private power projects in the province. BCCPP donors will receive copies of the map with our mailing in late August; if you aren’t an active donor, please email us your mailing address to receive a copy of the map.
